Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

The Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is one of the most beautiful parks of Washington. This is vastly spread across the bright blue waters of the Columbia River. This river attracts a large number of visitors and tourists during intense summer days. The river is high in its fishery content and hence attracts people who are interested in hunting and fishing. The other major hits of this recreational area are boating and camping.

Most of the national parks in Washington do not allow hunting; however, Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is one of the very few parks where hunting is legal subject to a few rules and regulations. The distance from where one is allowed to shoot, the equipment that has to be used and the various ways to shoot is clearly explained in the rules and regulation of the national park. Any violation to these rules is likely to attract legal punishment.

Camping is also quite famous here. There are a lot of individual as well as group sites that allow camping. These have to be reserved well in advance to avoid last minute disappointments. The Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area also offers excellent boating facilities.
Currently there are 22 public boat launches which guarantee some of the best water sports experiences to the visitors. The climate can be described as close to extremes. During summer the park tends to get very hot and dry, the water sports being the most sought after activity; however as dusk sets in, the climate gets chiller and more pleasant.
